A Rapid Analysis of Regulated Phthalates in Children Plastic Toys by TD–GCMS
鄰苯二甲酸鹽被廣泛應(yīng)用于增塑劑的商業(yè)產(chǎn)品中,但鄰苯二甲酸鹽會(huì)威脅人類(lèi)的健康。關(guān)于鄰苯二甲酸鹽含量的法規(guī)已經(jīng)建立,特別是對(duì)兒童的產(chǎn)品。歐盟規(guī)定塑料玩具中的6種鄰苯二甲酸鹽要低于0.1%的水平。在使用GCMS分析方法測(cè)定塑料玩具中鄰苯二甲酸鹽的含量時(shí),通常要對(duì)目標(biāo)樣品先進(jìn)行提取、濃縮、過(guò)濾等樣品前處理過(guò)程。在本論文中,我們使用了(TD)-GCMS技術(shù)來(lái)替代上述較復(fù)雜的過(guò)程,方法簡(jiǎn)便快速。它是檢測(cè)塑料玩具中鄰苯二甲酸鹽濃度是否超標(biāo)的一種快速、靈敏的方法。
Phthalates are widely used in commercial products as plasticizers. However it has been demonstrated that some of the phthalates constitute a risk to human health. Regulations on phthalates have been established especially on children products. The EU regulates six phthalates in plastic toys to a level of less than 0.1%.
The determination of Phthalates in plastic toys generally involves extraction, concentration and filtration of the target analysts prior to GCMS analysis. In this paper we used an alternative method by Thermal Desorption (TD)-GCMS technique. The method is simple and rapid. It has proved to be a rapid and sensitive method to check whether the concentration of phthalates in the toys exceeds the regulatory limit.
Conclusion:
The TD-GCMS method using Frontier Lab pyrolyzer has been proved to be useful in the rapid screening and quantitative determination of the six regulated phthalates in plastic toys.
The method also showed by directly introducing the powder of the toy, a reasonable RSD (5%) could be achieved. For higher precision, one could dissolve the powder in THF solution.
This method is currently being evaluated by ASTM and CPSC.
